The National Service Secretariat, according to the Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), seeks to change the stipend for National Service Personnel. This occurs as a result of employee agitation.
President of the Coalition of Suffering National Service Personnel Group, Weachea Awaregya, campaigned for a raise in the payment.

Mensah said the new stipend would be higher than what Service personnel had requested in an appearance on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Wednesday.

These suggestions, she claimed, had been given to the Parliamentary Education Committee. The settlement amount was not specified by Madam Oware-Mensah. Every month, NSPs earn GH559.04 in commission.

“Unfortunately, all we know is that it will cost more than GH800,” she expressed her disappointment.

On Monday, the Coalition of Suffering National Service Personnel staged a demonstration in Accra.

We want to raise the NSS allowance to 800 dollars – Gifty Oware-Mensah The organization sought three months’ back pay.

They claim that price hikes are causing financial hardship as a result of the delay in their allowance payment.

The Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme denied owing three months’ back pay to select NSPs.

According to her, as of April 2022, the Service had paid 67,000 persons; only those who had not filed monthly assessment forms had not been paid.

Gifty Oware-Mensah committed to compensate late-submitting employees as soon as possible.

“Many of them have not completed their monthly assessment, or have submitted it late, and so, after we pay the general one, there are a few payments that we have to make, which we do before we pay our next in line.” So absolutely, we will make sure they are paid, and if you did not work for any month, you will not be paid,” she stated.
