An Asankrangwa District Magistrate Court has remanded two Asankrangwa Senior High School (SHS) teachersin police prison for allegedly raping and abusing two of the school’s first-year pupils.
Captain Kofi Takyi of Asankrangwa-based Ahobrasea FM, who was in court, reported to Connect FM that suspect Ernest Donkor was charged with rape, in violation of Section 97 of the Criminal Offences Act (29/60), and suspect Augustine Swanzy Oduro was also charged with Indecent Assault, in violation of Section 203 of the Criminal Offences Act (29/60).
Ernest Donkor, 28, is a Physics teacher at the school, and Augustine Swanzy Oduro, 34, is a History teacher, according to ASP J. A. Kwarkye, who read the brief fact to the court presided over by His Worship Justice Augustine Fiifi Donful.
The victims, ages 15 and 16, are first-year students at the same school.
According to the prosector, the complainant, Daniel Quayson Junior, is the Assistant Headmaster of Asankrangwa Senior High School.
On Thursday, July 14, at the Amenfi West Municipal Inter-School competition at Asankrangwa Senior High School, the two suspects took the victims off of the school grounds and purchased new outfits for them to wear so that they could go out to celebrate one of the victims’ birthdays.
The suspects rented a hotel in Wassa Dunkwa, near Asankrangwa, at about 2:00 p.m. on the same day.
The two accused purchased a Malta Guinness for the victims.
Suspect Ernest Donkor brought the 16-year-old victim to a hotel room in order to converse with her, while suspect Augustine Swanzy Oduro took the 15-year-old victim to another hotel room in order to converse with her.
During the talk, the 16-year-old girl excused herself to go to the restroom and left her Malta Guinness to drink with defendant Ernest Donkor in the room.
After returning from the restroom, the victim became disoriented and blacked out after drinking the Malta Guinness drink.
She regained consciousness later and saw herself nude on the bed with blood streaks between her thighs.
While in the room, suspect Augustine Swanzy Oduro had sexual bodily relations with the 15-year-old girl, fondling her breasts and stroking her buttocks.
The victim managed to flee the room, and the two suspects subsequently returned the two victims to the school grounds.
On their way to campus, suspect Ernest Donkor promised to purchase the 16-year-old victim an iPhone 7plus, pizza, and food and cautioned them not to tell anybody about what transpired at the hotel.
The victims reported the event to the Assistant Headmaster, who is the complaint, the same day in the evening.
On the 15th of July, the complainant, assisted by police, apprehended the defendants and registered a complaint at Asankrangwa Police Station.
On behalf of the 16-year-old victim, police medical documents were handed to the complainant, who was to accompany the victim to the hospital for a medical examination.
The case has been rescheduled for Wednesday, July 20.
