Auditor General Drops Sad News Over Salary Payment At Finance Ministry
According to the Auditor General’s report on Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, the Finance Ministry received dubious salary payments of GH1,112,896.00.
The GH1,112,895.96 in salary was paid from January 2020 to December 2021.
According to the investigation, these payments were made to three persons whose names could not be found on the Finance Ministry’s nominal roster.
According to Regulation 86 of the Public Financial Management Regulations, 2019 (L.I. 2378), a Principal Spending Officer of a covered entity shall ensure that only the names of personnel who are eligible to receive payment for work done are kept on the payment voucher and keep records of the covered entity’s nominal roll in a manner that ensures that the correct amount of emolument is paid.
“The GH1,112,895.96 in salary paid was for the period January 2020 to December 2021,” the Auditor General observed in the report.
The Auditor General advised that the GH1,112,895.96 be recovered from the Finance Ministry’s Chief Director and payroll validators.
