Breaking News: 20+ Passengers battling for their lives after an accident on Accra-Kumasi highway

Following a head-on accident between an articulated truck and a commercial bus carrying passengers, several people are fighting for their lives.

On Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at around 9:00 p.m., an accident happened at Oframase, close to the Nkawkaw section of the Accra – Kumasi Highways in the Eastern area.

An eyewitness said that both cars attempted to overtake a halted Rhino truck carrying charcoal in the center of the road without noticing incoming traffic, which resulted in the head-on crash.

The passengers of the bus, especially those in the front seats, were gravely hurt, according to an eyewitness who talked to Agoo News shortly after the collision.

He said that the police arrived on the spot a short while later to free the victims and transport them to Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw.

In a similar occurrence, a near-fatal collision involving 22 passengers happened on the Accra to Kumasi Highway at Densuso near Suhum at approximately 12:15 pm the same day.

A sprinter bus traveling from Accra to Kumasi with the registration number AC 435 -20 was involved in the accident.

The driver of the Sprinter bus lost control of the steering wheel as a result of a tyre blowout while traveling at high speed.

The driver and many children were among the 22 injured persons who were sent for medical attention to the Suhum government hospital.
