BREAKING NEWS: SIM card re-registration extended to Sept 30
The deadline for re-registering SIM cards across the country has been extended to September 30, 2022.
Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister of Communication and Digitalisation, made the announcement during a news conference in Accra on Sunday.
“After consulting with industry stakeholders, I regretfully agreed to prolong the re-registration procedure to September 30, 2022,” she stated.
Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful, on the other hand, cautioned that “any SIM not registered by the end of August will be prohibited from obtaining services.”
“Using unregistered SIM cards will also be more expensive.” The entire scope of disciplinary measures will be presented at a subsequent press conference in September. Please do not blame your service provider if you meet that end as a result of your own inaction. Being forewarned is being forearmed.
Initially, the government set July 31 as the deadline for all individuals to re-register their SIM cards with their Ghana Cards.
However, mass Ghanaians are yet to get the Ghana card, which would allow them to re-register their SIM cards.
As a result, the Minister of Communication and Digitalisation has “reluctantly” extended the deadline for individuals to register their SIM cards.
This is the final extension of the deadline until September.
Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful also stated that a self-registration app will be released next week to allow individuals to register from the comfort of their own homes.
