The Buduburam D/A primary “D” headmaster, wife, and five children were imprisoned and burned to ashes in a three-bedroom apartment building at Buduburam Nurses quarters, shocking and saddening residents of Gomoa Buduburam.
According to sources, the dead headmaster, Mr. Robert Asan Donkor, was 57 years old, his wife was 51 years old, and his firstborn was 23 years old while his lastborn was just five months old.
Some residents and eyewitnesses reported hearing loud screams for aid, prompting them to summon the fire department, but when they arrived, the whole family of seven had died.
Soireenews In an interview with ADO2 Patrick Bawa of the Ghana National Fire Service, he revealed that they received a distress call around 6:30 a.m. this morning, and when they arrived at 6:40 a.m., the scene was completely burned out, with seven bodies retrieved and sent to the police mortuary for preservation.
He went on to say that the cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but that inquiries into the terrible tragedy have begun.
ADO2 has encouraged the general public to be cautious of obsolete electrical wires and to turn off all switches and electrical devices after usage.
Mr Lot Authur, the Assembly Member for Buduburam electoral region, who was there at the site, conveyed his shock and sympathies to the victims’ families.
He has petitioned the government to assist the family, as this is a major setback for them.
