The West African Examination Council has made public a list of applicants whose results in the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) were withheld (WAEC).
The list contains hundreds of possible names representing Ghana’s 16 regions.
According to the examination body, the results of applicants who engaged in test misconduct, such as bringing illicit materials into the exam room or copying from associates, were withheld.
According to WAEC, if a candidate is discovered in the examination hall with notes, textbooks, prepared material, or any other printed material, the candidate’s entire examination results will be withheld pending cancellation of the results of the subject involved by the appropriate Council Committee.
Furthermore, if a candidate is discovered in the examination hall with a blank piece of paper or any other material not covered above (except a mobile phone or any other electronic communication device), the candidate’s entire results will be withheld pending cancellation of the results of the subject involved by the appropriate Council Committee.
Furthermore, if a candidate is discovered in the test hall using a programmed calculator, the candidate’s full score will be withheld awaiting the revocation of the subject’s results.
If a candidate is caught with a mobile phone or any other electronic communication device in the test hall, his/her whole results will be withheld awaiting annulment by the relevant Council Committee.
