CONFIRMED: GH¢57m released for feeding, allowances to Colleges of Education; date set for payment of allowances
For Ghana’s 46 colleges of education, the government has provided GH57,460,000 in food assistance and student allowances.
Following considerable dissatisfaction over the non-payment of allowances to the schools, the Ministry of Education stated in a statement that it was dedicated to enhancing and maintaining excellent education.
“The Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Education, has made available GH57,460.000.00 to the 46 Colleges of Education in Ghana to pay food grants and student allowance.”
The statement stated, “The Ministry hereby reiterates Its commitment to adequately resource and engage with all institutions under its purview in the fight to develop and sustain excellent education in Ghana.
Students at institutions of education have protested the nonpayment of allowances.
