Deputy regional coordinator sends important message to stranded NABCO Trainees
Contrary to the allegations of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Coordinator of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) has stated that the program would not be canceled.
Wilfred Owusu Gyasi stated on the Ultimate Breakfast Show that enrolling a new cohort in the transitory graduate employment plan was not out of the question.
“NABCO is not being canceled as a program.” It is the first batch of the program, which has seven models and a three-year contract that has been extended and will expire on September 1st. NABco will continue to exist. “All 263 districts will exist, and I will not be sitting in my office doing nothing,” he said.
Mr. Owusu Gyasi said “yes, surely” to the issue of whether or not a new cohort will be engaged, although emphasizing that he does not want to take the wind out of his organization’s sails.
The NABCO CEO’s statement appears to contradict the position of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who has stated that the 2.2 billion-dollar scheme will end in September.
The Finance Minister was certain that tens of thousands of graduates with three to four years of experience should take advantage of the impending YouStart initiative to launch their own enterprises.
Wilfred Owusu Gyasi also promised that any debts owing to the 30 thousand staff who benefited from the one-year extension will be cleared.
“All arrears for those 30 thousand who are still at post and working will be paid,” he told presenter Julius Caesar Anadem. There is a timetable for payment of such funds.”
The NABCo chief said that the initiative was a ten billion cedi program that had previously made provisions in the 2018 budget for 599 million cedis as a prepayment for all wage arrears to be offset except for the government’s revenue issues.
