His decision was based on Article 93 of the 1992 Constitution.
In his statement to the House on Wednesday, the Speaker also stated that the reasons for the MP’s expulsion were premature.
The Speaker referred the two, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, and Henry Quartey, MP for Ayawaso Central, to the Privileges Committee to explain their absence.
The Speaker referred the two, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, and Henry Quartey, MP for Ayawaso Central, to the Privileges Committee to explain their absence.
The three absentee MPs were sent to the Privileges Committee in accordance with the Standing Orders to explain why they were away for 15 days in suspected violation of Article 97(1)(c) of the Constitution and the Standing Orders of Parliament.
As a result, the Speaker has determined that the full House must decide the destiny of the Dome-Kwabenya MP based on the recommendations of the Privileges Committee.
