Gang Forces Teacher To Kneel And Beg For Punishing Students
The Ghana Education Service has shut down the Akyem Anyinasin Methodist Junior High School in Abuakwa North Municipality in the Eastern Region after a group from the neighborhood forced a male teacher to kneel and accept responsibility for disciplining certain children.
On Monday, July 24,2022, the instructor allegedly reprimanded some kids for misbehavior.
When the instructor was on his way home in the evening, a group of local residents ambushed him. They forced him to kneel and apologize to the pupils.
They continued to threaten the school’s other facilitators.
On Thursday, July 28, 2022, Miss Abena Gyamerah, the Abuakwa North Municipal Director of Education, went to the school to get to know the instructors.
She later visited with local officials to help with the investigation and catch the criminals.
However, due to teacher worries about insecurity, the municipal director of education ordered the temporary closure of the school.
She spoke to Starr News. When the children misbehaved, the instructors attempted to discipline them, but when they went to tell the locals, it was they who threatened the teachers. I thus ordered that school be dismissed today so that we could discuss the situation. The director of education stated that an inquiry is still ongoing.
This year’s May saw the commissioning of the fully equipped, contemporary, ICT-equipped classroom building at Anyinasin Methodist JHS, which was entirely sponsored by Dr. Samuel Owusu, an old student.
