GES Unveils New Ashanti Regional Director; Photo Drops
Mr. David Oppong, the Metro Director of Education in Kumasi, has been appointed as the Ghana Education Service (GES) Ashanti Regional Director, beginning September 5.
According to reports, Mary Owusu Afriyie handed over her duties and responsibilities as the Ashanti Regional Education Director to him as she enters “compulsory retirement” after her followers failed to negotiate for another contract extension.
The news comes amid requests from individuals and pressure organizations for Ms. Owusu Afriyie to quit from the Ghana Education Service (GES).
Nana Asare Bediako, a former District Chief Executive for Atwima Nwabiagya under the John Mahama era who spearheaded this charge, characterizes Ms. Owusu Afriyie as inept.
