Ghana is no longer among Africa’s top ten teams, according to the current FIFA rating, which ranks the Black Stars 11th after their dismal showing at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana has slid to 61st place in the overall rankings.
Ghana was eliminated in the first round of the just concluded competition. The four-time African champions lost all of their matches and only earned one point out of a potential nine to finish last in their group.
The Black Stars started their campaign with a loss to Morocco, then drew with Gabon before losing 3-2 to debutants Comoros. It was Ghana’s first group stage departure since 2006.
Meanwhile, champions Senegal remains in first place, with Morocco, Nigeria, Egypt, and Tunisia rounding out the top five.
Burkina Faso has seized Ghana’s place after a strong showing in Cameroon, where they finished fourth. Cameroon has dropped to sixth place from third.
Algeria, the defending champions, has slid to sixth place, which is predictable given their terrible performance.
They only scored one goal and finished last in their group, crashing out of the competition.
