How Agradaa tried to leave the country after scamming her church members – Prosecutors tell court

Evangelist Mama Pat, better known as Nana Agradaa, the beleaguered founder of Heavenway Champion International Ministry, willingly surrendered herself in, prosecutors told an Accra Circuit Court.

The former fetish priestess was in court for an alleged new scam after a number of her church members complained recently about an advertised money-doubling service that did not work out.

Following several requests for her arrest, the police launched an investigation, and she was detained on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

On Monday, October 10, 2022, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Maxwell Oppong informed the court that after receiving intelligence, they had to shut down all access to Nana Agradaa’s hideouts.

He went on to say that it was only because of this that the accused was forced to report herself to the police, despite the fact that she had no fixed address.

According to The Chronicle, police “virtually had to block the airport to prevent the accused from taking a flight out of the country.”

The prosecution said to the court that they had to follow her phone since she was not available in all of the areas they expected her to be.

The video purported to be the genesis of Agradaa’s new scam:

According to a story provided by GhanaWeb on Saturday, October 8, 2022, dozens of individuals who attended her church, Heavenway Champion International Ministry, were complaining about what they called a swindle by the contrite woman.

Multiple victims were seen fleeing out from Evangelist Mama Pat’s church building and expressing alarm that they had been duped and defrauded in several short video clips that have since gone viral.

Further investigation by GhanaWeb revealed that a large number of people were there at the church on the day because the remorseful priestess had previously publicized on her television channel that she was coming to distribute money to people.

She is also accused of advertising that she would double any donations made to her church, Heavenway Champion International Ministry, on the day.

GhanaWeb finally came upon the aforementioned video, which advertised the church service, culminating in the alleged swindle.

The contrite fetish priestess is seen calling on people to go to her church on October 7, 2022, in a one-minute, fifty-six-second video from her TV station uploaded by a Facebook user.

“This month is spiritual transformation month, which is why Heavenway Champion is contributing three billion dollars to the church.” Come out on Friday for the all-night party. If you need money for a job, rent money, startup money, or to take care of your health, you are going to miss out if you skip this Friday all night,” she stated in Twi.
