Osinachi, a well-known Nigerian gospel singer, died of lung cancer, according to Peter Nwachukwu, her husband.
Mr Nwachukwu also said that he never hit his late wife, despite widespread assumption.
The father-of-four made the statement while being taken to the Abuja High Court on Friday.
“Let me tell the whole world, I’ve been through a lot,” he added. I’ve been left alone. Cancer of the lungs killed my wife; I did not strike her. My wife, Osinachi Nwachukwu, died of lung cancer, therefore I’m suffering for something I don’t understand”!
Many of Osinachi’s coworkers accused her husband of subjecting her to domestic violence, which resulted to her death, on April 8.
The Dunamis International Gospel Centre’s lead choir included the 42-year-old vocalist.
The singer was once thought to have died of throat cancer. Shortly after the news of her death went viral, her relatives and friends expressed sadness over her violent marriage to Peter Nwachukwu.
