If Ghana had a Ronaldo or Messi, we will get him- GFA boss Kurt Okraku says as he defends AFCON squad

Kurt Okraku, the president of the Ghana Football Association, claims that if the country had one, a Ronaldo-and-Messi-type player would have been found.

The players that represented Ghana in the Nations Cup, according to the GFA president, are the best the country has to offer.

The Black Stars recorded the poorest AFCON in country history, picking up only one point in three games and failing to win a game for the first time.

“The guys that represented Ghana are the greatest players we have,” he said on Skyy Power 93.5FM’s Jolly Breakfast Show. “If there is a Ronaldo or Lionel Messi type player someplace who will step directly into our first eleven, just let me know and I will include him.”

Players like Alexander Djiku and Daniel Kofi Kyereh, who grew up in Europe, have been added to the Black Stars after Kurt Okraku took over as President of the FA.

According to reports, the Ghana Football Association is seeking to get Tariq Lamptey and other Ghanaian players born outside of the country into the Black Stars team.
