I’ve cut my salary by 30% because of economic hardship – Nana Addo

Due to the current economic situation, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo claims he has reduced his pay by 30% with immediate effect.

The President made the cut announcement while serving as the special guest at this year’s Eid Al Adha prayers in Accra in order to convey to the populace the necessity of making sacrifices as the nation requests assistance from the International Monetary Fund.

He also proposed a 50% fuel price reduction for government equipment.

The president claims that the 30 percent wage decrease does not apply to all ministers.

“To give us the room to navigate the choppy waters of the current economic troubles, we must all make some sacrifices. Ministries, departments, and agencies have reduced their spending by 30%. All appointees, including myself, have had their wages cut by 30%. Other expenses have been stopped, and fuel coupon allocations have been cut by 50%.

He pleaded with Ghanaians to be patient while he implemented efforts to improve their situation.

To demonstrate the importance of Eid Al Adha, the National Chief Imam urged Muslims to observe moderation throughout their festivities and to be kind to their neighbors.

He prayed for the president and took the opportunity to urge Ghanaians to recognize the difficult circumstances the nation is currently facing.
