JUST IN: Fair Wages invites leaders of labor unions to a base wage bargaining conference

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), the government-appointed institution in charge of salary increment concerns, has planned and invited leaders of several civil servant groups and labor unions to a conference in Accra for their third debate on the base pay for 2023 and beyond.

This conference, which will be place in the capital, will be the third in terms of wage augmentation discussions between the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission and the leadership of public sector employees, following the failure of the prior two. The meeting is scheduled on November 30th, 2022 in the Ministry of Health (MOH) Auditorium.

The invitation, issued by Ing. Benjamin Arthur, Chief Executive of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, implies that the subject will be the continuation of the base wage discussions for 2023 and beyond.

As of now, both sides have stated various marginal percentages of increase and are hoping for a compromise from the other side. The next step will be determined by this newly planned meeting.
