JUST IN: Rwandan lady faces jail term for indecent dressing
Liliane Mugabekazi, a 24-year-old Rwandan woman who was arrested on August 7 after wearing a translucent dress to a performance, has been charged with indecent clothing.
A photo of Liliane, who went to Tayc’s concert a few days ago, was trending on social media. Tayc is a famous French musician.
Busingye Johnston, the current Rwandan ambassador to the United Kingdom, deemed Liliane’s dress choice insulting in a tweet on his verified account.
“The current issue of our young men and women drinking and drugging themselves unwittingly, then appearing in public literally nude is unpleasant,” he said.
The prosecution’s spokesman, Faustin Nkusi, alleged that the woman committed a serious offense by being “naked” in public and that her clothing was “shameful.”
According to The Chronicles, a Rwandan daily, the 24-year-old lady appeared in court on Thursday.
According to reports, Liliane’s counsel asked that the hearings be held behind closed doors.
