Man to contest NDC Women’s Organiser position
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is organizing internal elections to nominate new leaders from the branch level to the national level ahead of the 2024 general election.
A man is running for election as the party’s Women Organiser in the Northern Region’s Saboba Constituency.
James Kwame Boame, alias Elizabeth, has been the party’s Bonzali Camp branch chairman for the previous four years.
Elizabeth has opted to run for a post often held by women, despite her desire to serve the party at the constituency level.
According to Mr. Boame, his determination to defy the traditional quo stems from his view that a man is as entitled of such a position.
“My name is Hon. James Kwame, also known as Elizabeth.” I am interested in running for the role of NDC Women Organiser for Saboba.
“I want to aim for the role because I believe that not only women can lead,” he told Konkomba TV in an interview that was uploaded on Facebook.
Elizabeth emphasized his choice to run for the women’s post in his home tongue, Kokomba, while detailing his record in the NDC and what he hopes to add to the Women Organiser office.
“I was a Bonzali Camp Chairman in Saboba and am now vying for the role of Women Organiser.” As Chairman of Bonzali, I was able to assist by installing culverts, among other things.
“I’m not sure why women can become vice presidents but guys can’t become Women Organisers.” My colleagues in the NDC have no objections to me running for the role. Vote for me, and I will develop Saboba and build a road to Toso to make it easier for young people to start businesses,” he continued.
Elizabeth stated that his desire to run for the job was informed to various NDC leaders, including the party’s 2020 flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama.
According to him, he has already assembled a campaign team and is well on his way to success.
“I have informed Moses Mabengba, John Mahama, his running companion, and party executives that I intend to seek for the job of Women Organiser.” “I have a strong campaign crew and have purchased five motorcycles for their use,” he said.
The NDC will hold its constituency elections on October 22nd and 23rd, 2022.
