MP chases out MP with machete over poor roads.
A Member of Parliament (MP) on a duty tour in the Ashanti Region has been chased away by constituents for the second time this year.
This latest incident occurred in the Atwima Nwabiagya South constituency, where the MP, Emmanuel Agyei Anhwere, was chased out with a machete by locals who were dissatisfied with the area’s inadequate road development on Wednesday (August 24, 2022).
According to our journalist, Daniel Kenu, the MP, Emmanuel Agyei Anhwere, was visiting the area when the furious youngsters attacked him.
Constituents carrying machetes threatened the MP and forced him to from the area at Kobeng, Seidi, and Amanchia.
While some leaders expected the chief of Amanchia, Nana Afrifa Boansa II, to calm concerns, he backed the youngsters and urged them to continue with the threats, according to our correspondent.
The chief had previously declined to attend a meeting when the MP was supposed to listen to community concerns.
In Suame, the Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, was showered with bagged water over the same problem. He was also on duty in Suame, inspecting road infrastructure.
Some people informed Graphic Online that they had petitioned the MP to advocate for the roads to be mended, but a year later, nothing has been built, particularly the route between Wiawso and Antoakrom.
According to reports, the contractor abandoned the project owing to a shortage of cash.
