NEWS IN: Ken Agyapong To Contest For 2024 NPP Flagbearership Position -Confirmed; Details Drop

Kennedy Agyapong, an Assin Central Member of Parliament, has indicated that he will run in the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries ahead of the 2024 general elections.
On Monday, May 16, he made the news on his television network. The NPP will choose its flagbearer for the upcoming elections next year. In reference to the internal polls, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has instructed the NPP leadership to ensure that the election of the presidential candidate is conducted fairly.
He stated that fairness would limit the amount of divisions that the contest would cause inside the party.
Mr. Akufo-Addo stated that, as with any competition, there will be disagreements within the party following the internal votes.
He did say, though, that the flagbearer should be able to bring all of the fronts together. “I’m hoping that the level playing field that allows us to pick our next president will also bring us a candidate who can bring our party together.” Because competition will certainly produce some divides within the party, we as the ruling party have a responsibility to conduct ourselves in a manner that minimizes fissures.
“Cracks in the NPP can reflect on the state; we are the ruling party, and if our base, our party, is split, that fracture can be translated into shattering the state, which nobody wants,” he stated last year on Accra’s Peace FM.
