NLA to terminate Hearts of Oak contract over poor performance – CONFIRMED

The NLA’s director-general, Sammy Awuku, has threatened to terminate Hearts of Oak’s contract if they do not finish in the top three of the Ghana Premier League.
Before the start of the 2021/22 football season, NLA signed a one million cedis collaboration agreement with the club.

The Phobians, who won the domestic treble last season, have struggled so far this season.

At a ceremony held at the NLA offices following their visit, Awuku congratulated Asante Kotoko on their Premier League victory.

“While NLA may not be able to sponsor every club again next season, Kotoko has proven themselves worthy, and we will consider sponsoring them,” he said.

“We decide to sponsor each club moving ahead, and if you are not in the top three at the conclusion of the season, we will not consider you again.”

“You must continuously rank in the top three or be accompanied by trophy winners to maintain your affiliation with us going strong,” she said.

Hearts of Oak play RTU in their final match of the season on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, and they are on the verge of missing out on a place in the top four.
