The Ghana Teacher Prize’s organizers, the National Teaching Council (NTC), have officially launched the application and nomination site for the 2022 Ghana Teacher Prize.

A new category has been added this year to recognize the important contribution of teachers in educational leadership and administration. To be eligible, you must be a professionally qualified teacher presently working in the pre-tertiary education sector (both public and private) and have at least five (5) years of experience as a leader or administrator.

The top award winners in each of the three categories will be sent to Dubai for a week of educational training and touring as part of the prize package.

The Ghana Teacher Prize aims to push teachers to achieve greater levels of performance while also increasing respect for the profession. The Prize emphasizes the significance of education and represents the idea that teachers all around the world need to be acknowledged and honored.

Mr. Ebenezer Kojo Otoo, a 44-year-old teacher at Winneba Senior High School (SHS) in the Central Region’s Efutu Municipality, was named Ghana’s Most Outstanding Teacher in October 2021. Mr. Otoo was awarded a GHC250,000.00 cash for a three-bedroom property sponsored by GLICO Pension as part of his reward.

The first runner-up was Rev. Sister Jacinta Kwakyewaa, a teacher at St. Francis SHS/Technical School in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region, who won a brand new 4×4 pick-up truck donated by Prudential Bank.

For being the second runner-up, Mr Nelson Saviour Kwashie, a teacher at Winton SHS in the Awutu Senya area of Ghana’s Central Region, earned a saloon automobile sponsored by Databank Limited.

Other worthy teaching and non-teaching personnel who excelled in other areas received citations and monetary awards ranging from GHC5,000.00 to GHC7,000.00, as well as other valued things.

The ultimate prize is open to all professionally trained teachers currently working at the pre-tertiary education space (both public and private) and have taught for at least five (5) years.
