Prempeh boys cry like a baby as Presec boys are in 7th heaven with NSMQ trophy
“We are still seven a living God,” Presbyterian Boys Secondary Institution (PRESEC) pupils, old boys, and other supporters yelled as the Legon-based school won a record-extending seventh National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) trophy.
The guys successfully resisted Prempeh College’s threat to match two of their records in a single swing.
Presec Legon battled for everything that was at stake. They arrived, saw, and conquered.
Their back-to-back record is intact, and they have increased their trophy total to seven, two more than Prempeh College, who attempted to catch up.
The Kumasi-based challengers were in tears after being vanquished on their own turf, and their host and victory cries were subdued.
Presec brings the title to Accra, dashing their opponents’ hopes.
Adisadel College also failed in their attempt to restore the trophy to Cape Coast, ending a three-year drought for the city that has so many trophies, trailing only Accra till today.
The competition itself was hot, with all schools missing the first two rounds of questions.
Prempeh College then regained control and led until the final seconds of the game.
The margin at the end of the race would lead anyone who did not watch to assume that Presec Legon had an easy day, yet the contest went down to the wire.
Champions Presec answered three out of four riddles to overtake Prempeh College’s lead and finished with 50 points, nine more than Prempeh College’s 41 points, and Adisadel’s 32 points.
“You accomplished it,” praised Quiz Mistress Elsie Effah Kaufmann.
