After a fuel tanker burst on the always-bustling Ibadan highway, 17 people were cooked to death, with 14 of them burned beyond recognition.
Around 5 a.m., a head-on accident between two vehicles with registration numbers ZT728 KLD (Mazda bus) and a nondescript tanker happened near the Isara bridge portion of the highway, resulting in an explosion that swallowed people on the Mazda bus.
Superintendent Route Commander(SRC) Florence Okpe, who is also the FRSC Public Education Officer, confirmed the numerous crash and blamed it on a route violation and unsafe driving, which culminated in a head-on collision and fire.
“The exact number of persons involved is unknown, but 17 bodies (dead) have been discovered.” Only one guy, one female, and one female kid were recognized, while others were burned beyond recognition with no injuries.
A Mazda Bus with the registration number ZT728 KLD and an unknown vehicle with the registration number ZT728 KLD were both involved.

Route violation and dangerous driving are suspected reasons of the deadly disaster, which ended in a head-on collision and fire out break.
