Sad news as Pregnant woman, two sons burnt to death at Ashanti Region
A pregnant lady, 37, and her two boys were killed in a fire Monday evening in Ohwim, Ashanti Region.
The dead, Philomena Osei, and her two children, ages 7 and 9, were unable to flee the raging fire that began about 11:30 p.m.
They became imprisoned in their three-bedroom flat.
Fortunately, one of the siblings, a 14-year-old sleeping in a separate room, escaped unharmed.
“I heard the woman yelling for aid,” Justina Owusu, a neighbor, told 3news.com.
“By the time I went outside, I saw the entire building was on fire.” We contacted the [Ghana National] Fire Service with other residents, but the three were burned to death before they came.”
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, but an investigation has begun. However, several people suspect arson.
“This isn’t the first time this has happened. Someone once set fire to the back of one of the rooms’ net, but it was immediately extinguished.
“So this one seems odd because how can two rooms catch fire at the same time?” questioned Sampson Mensah, one of the tenants.
The Ghana National Fire Service has promised to look into the case thoroughly.
