Chaotic scenes have been witnessed at Nairobi’s Buruburu Girls High School after an enormous fireplace engulfed a dormitory in the school.
Some of the students trapped within the multi-storey construction were noticed attempting to flee the inferno by means of passing through windows and leaping, jumping all the way to the bottom of the ground at the dormitory.
According to popular news media site TUKO.co.ke a number of students have already been rushed to the hospital after the Sunday, October 31, fireplace incident whose cause is yet to be decided.
After the incident happened, most of the parents and guardians who were panicked in a hurry rushed to the school to check on their wards who were rushed to the neighbouring Metropolitan Hospital.
In response to the horrific video shared on social media, the hapless girls had been noticed escaping by means of passing through windows because the darkish smoke billowed the building and the air.
A passerby who spoke to The Standard said they tried accessing the varsity to assist the girls however to no avail.
Buruburu Sub-County Police Commander Francis Kamau who confirmed the incident stated it was too early to determine the cause and the extent of the harm.
