According to the National Labour Commission (NLC), the state of wages and allowances in Ghana is poor.

The Executive Secretary, Ofosu Asamoah, declared on Adom TV’s Badwam that the issue is visible in both the private and governmental sectors.

“Even at private institutions, they receive as little as GHS 300.” As a result, wages in Ghana are often quite low. “Ask filling station or bar attendants, gas station workers, and any other profession you can think of, and you’ll be surprised at the results,” he added.

In light of this, Mr Asamoah has suggested that conversations about allowances and wages not be relegated to the public sector alone, since many individuals in the private sector are also suffering.

“When salary and allowance concerns arise, we make it appear as though it is solely the government sector, but this is not the case.”

“The government just paid 15% CLA to public sector employees; would they be the only ones to benefit?” “What happens then to those in the private sector?” He questioned.
