Sorry for those who have not registered their SIM as bad news drops for them
It will be remembered. In a news conference, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful revealed that the new deadline for terminating SIM registration will be September 30, 2022. She also mentioned that Ghanaians who have not registered by the end of August will face sanctions. This is to guarantee that people do not have to wait until September to create large lines and register.
The Minister stated that Ghanaians who do not link and register SIM cards by the end of August would be prevented from obtaining certain Telco services. Voice and data services are among the offerings. Again, the minister stated unequivocally that using unregistered Sims would be too costly.
However, it is difficult to comprehend what pricey means in this situation. The Minister urged all Ghanaians to make use of the new deadline.
Ken Ashigbey, the Chief Executive Officer of the Telecommunication Chamber, made a bold statement today. He bemoaned the rate at which SIM card registration was declining. The registration process was estimated to have been reduced by more than 90%.
As a result, Ken Ashigbey brazenly proclaimed that everybody who has not yet registered their SIM cards will be prevented from making or receiving calls starting this week or next week. He said that anytime such persons make calls, they would be told that they must register their SIM cards before their calls can be made.
“I am confident that, as the Minister stated, we will see some actions in the coming days, such as prohibiting persons who have not registered their SIM cards from making calls for a period of time.” As a result, when such persons make calls, they will be informed to go and register their SIM Cards, so that as time passes, the penalties will grow more severe.”
