Speed up generation of staff ID’s for newly recruited teachers – Dr Adutwum directs GES
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education, has ordered the Ghana Education Service (GES) to expedite the procedures for issuing staff ID numbers to newly hired teachers.
This will make it easier for them to be added to the payroll and get their compensation.
His appeal follows media allegations that some recently hired teachers were not paid a few months after being hired because there were insufficient staff ID numbers to be utilized in the payment procedures.
The Education Minister requested that the GES expedite the procedures for the affected teachers to be connected to the payroll system for payment as a result of this development, according to Mr. Yaw Opoku Mensah, the Ministry of Education’s deputy spokesperson, who addressed the situation in an interview.
He reaffirmed the Education Ministry’s commitment to putting teachers’ wellbeing at the center of efforts to advance education.
