The story of the heir apparent to the Dagbon Skin who became chief at age 14

Dagbon is now in sorrow after the death of the Mion-Lana, Naa Abdulai III.

Prior to his death, he was the Dagbon Skin’s heir apparent.

After his father died, Mahamadu Abdulai, as he was called privately, became a chief at the age of 14.

He was born in 1974 and took the name Boling-Lana when he was 14 years old, the day after his father was laid to rest.

However, he was forced to stay indoors for nearly 30 years without seeing sunshine until his late father’s final burial rites were done in December 2018.

On March 3, 2019, he was enskinned as the supreme chief of the Mion Traditional Council.

He was the next in line to succeed Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II, according to the Dagbon kingship’s rotating system, until he died on Wednesday at the Korle-Bu teaching hospital following a brief illness.

Naa Abdulai III was survived by four wives and twelve children.
