Following their Ghana Premier League match versus Hearts of Oak in Accra, Ashantigold were ambushed by armed robbers.
The miners traveled to Accra for the week 21 encounter, which they defeated 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Hearts of Oak’s Daniel Afriyie Barnie scored a brace, while the miners’ Aminu Adams added a late consolation goal.
Armed robbers ambushed the players on their way to Obuasi after the game.
The criminals fired at the bus’s windscreen in an attempt to halt it and steal some items.
The motorist was able to navigate his way through a horrific shooting scene.
According to the information received, no one was injured as a result of the event.
According to a statement made by the club,
“On our way back from Accra, we were ambushed by armed robbers at Assin Endwa.
“Three rounds were fired at the front bulletproof glass by the bandits as the team driver wandered through a horrific scene of gunfire.
“It’s fortunate that no one was hurt. In Obuasi, the entire squad is now safe.”
