VIDEO: Sad As Rain Wash Away Twifo Praso Road; Divides Bridge Into Two; Residents Cry

Heavy rains in the Jukwa area of the Central Region have rendered the Cape Coast to Twifo Praso road unusable to motorists.
The Ghana Highway Authority has advised cars driving between Cape Coast and Twifo Praso to use caution since the bridge connecting the two cities at Jukwa has been washed away by flood.

Travelers are recommended to use the end of the route between Cape Coast and Yamoransa.

“The Ghana Highway Authority politely desires to inform the general public that the Cape Coast-Two Praso Road has been declared unusable due to a washout of bridge approaches at Jukwa.” Rains in Jukwa have blocked off access to the road.

“Motorists traveling between Cape Coast and Twifo Praso are advised to take the Cape Coast – Yamoransa (N1)- Assin Fosu – Twifo Praso (N81) road as the Authority mobilizes to repair the matter as soon as feasible,” the ministry said in a Facebook note.

The Ghana Police Service and the National Disaster Management Authority (NADMO) are on the site and addressing the situation, according to the ministry.

“At the moment, the Ghana Police Service and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) are on the scene, working with GHA employees to control the situation. The washout is on a 22-meter-span bridge at Jukwa’s ch 20+000. We sincerely regret for any trouble this has caused.”

The ministry, on the other hand, stated that traffic has been diverted to avoid cars becoming stuck at the site.

“Traffic has been diverted/reversed with the help of the public notification and the efforts of communities between Cape Coast and Jukwa, and there are presently no stranded motorists at the location,” the ministry stated.
