VIDEO: Teachers Must Pay For All These Services – GES Director General Directs
Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), has issued a notice requiring GES instructors to pay for workshops and training offered to them.
Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa made this public in a July 22, 2022 interview on United Television’s Mpu Ne Mpu show.
According to the Director-General, the various teacher unions in Ghana negotiated for and were given Teacher Professional Development Allowance.
This allowance, which is given in November each year, is allocated as follows:
- A one thousand two hundred Ghana Cedis (GH 1,200) stipend for professional instructors exclusively
- Non-professional instructors are only eligible for 800 Ghana Cedis (GH 800).
