VIDEO: We use torchlights to learn at night – Krobo Girls SHS students
Students at Krobo Girls Senior High School (SHS) in Odumase, like residents in the Yilo and Manya Krobo communities, are bearing the brunt of a community-wide blackout.
According to the pupils, their academic life grinds to a standstill at night since there is no electricity to help them study.
As a result, kids now use their torchlight to study at night in preparation for the next school day.
Some disgruntled Form 2 home economics students reported this during a visit to their school on The People’s Forum, a section on Adom FM’s morning broadcast, Dwaso Nsem.
Krobo villagers have had a long-running conflict with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) over alleged incorrect bill calculation and overbilling.
Residents in several localities argued that the move to install prepaid meters was really a ruse to reclaim the previous payment.
Residents have been without power since Wednesday, July 27, 2022, disrupting healthcare services, academic and economic operations in the area.
