We are tired of them, We should sack all the striking teachers – Labour expert advises gov’t

In anticipation of a “better” reaction from the government and the Ghana Education Service, pre-tertiary school teachers across the nation have launched an indefinite strike. Due to this, the majority of teachers have chosen to remain at home in an effort to persuade the government to take appropriate action on their behalf.

Some parents have also made the choice to let their kids remain home because they believe that they won’t be learning anything at school.

Labor expert Mr. Boakye Yiadom Amponsah has written to the government in regards to the teachers’ stated indefinite strike action. Speaking on Neat FM this morning, Mr. Amponsah said the government ought to fire any teachers who skip Friday classes.

He continued by saying that the teachers’ proclaimed strike was completely illegal. He continued by saying that this strike’s timing was equally disastrous.

He continued by saying that the government need to cancel their contracts and offer other young people a chance to work as teachers. He thinks the government can hire over 100,000 graduates to fill those positions if it fires teachers who don’t go to work by Friday.
