When I speak, there’s no court in Ghana that can overturn it- Otumfour bares teeth
Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the monarch of the great Ashanti Kingdom, was captured in a viral video saying that the depth of his supremacy means that no court in Ghana can overturn any decision he makes.
We don’t know the basis for his statement, but it’s clear that some of his subchiefs have enraged him over some ongoing dispute among them that was being prepared for court.
“I want peace to reign, but if anyone thinks going to court is the solution, there is no court that can overturn what I pronounce on this matter, not while Sikadwa the Golden Stool exists, not while I am the Asantehene,” he is heard saying.
The Asanteman overlord made headlines recently when he backed Nana Akufo Addo’s quest to build a National Cathedral.
Otumfour’s note was read in a speech read on his behalf by Asafohene, Asafo Boakye Agyemang Bonsu at the Kumasi edition of the fundraising exercise organized by the Board of Trustees, National Cathedral.
“Because we are a religious nation, the monumental structure is expected to add to the gains made… to promote people’s solidarity, unity, and harmony.”
